The satin is wrinkled and the silver spoon has vanished. Didn’t the butler know that Bollinger must NOT be served too warm? The court jester fell asleep on top of the grand piano mid-serenade. I fear some member of the common folk has slipped in – otherwise there wouldn’t be three-euro cider cans here.

In the salon mademoiselle is yelling: “Who brought Jaloviina in here!?” – and no one confesses. This evening was meant to be one of refined celebration: a light champagne tasting, a discreet aristocratic speech, and a few subtle songs. But as one might have guessed, someone uncorked that forbidden bottle from the cellar.

My head is buzzing, my throat is dry. I need champagne…or at least a gin & tonic…
