In Boomi, in addition to the board of the association, the activities are maintained and developed by various officials, who are selected as needed for a specific project or task. The job descriptions of a officials are often more practical than a board member’s and are limited to a specific area.
As an official, you get to influence Boomi’s operations in exactly the area that interests you. Officials are usually selected at the end of the year, and the search is announced on Boomi’s communication channels. So follow Boomi’s communications, and you’ll stay up to date on open positions.

The responsibility of the mentoring official includes recruiting mentors, marketing the project, organizing the search for actors, forming mentor pairs and organizing start, mid-term and end meetings as well as communication during the project.

Travel Official
matkat@boomi.fi Job descriptionThe Travel Official is responsible for Boomi’s trips abroad. The year of activity consists of two trips (for now): the legendary and traditional “Ruotsin Excu” (engl. Sweden Excursion) in November and the “Ulkomaan Excu” (engl. Abroad Excursion) which takes place in the following calendar year’s spring season. The Travel Official’s position consists of broad field of operational activities that Boomi has to offer which are, for example, event organizing and cooperation with various companies and groups. Over the year, the Travel Official gets to participate in negotiations with cooperation partners, organize interesting excursions, and reflect on the basic issues of organizing an event, from planning events to ticket sales and practical implementation. In this position only the sky is the limit (quite literally) as the Travel Official takes the members of Boomi to trips across Europe (and the world)!

international@boomi.fi Job descriptionHead of International Affairs is responsible for promoting internationality in Boomi. Perhaps the most visible duties are being responsible for international tutoring, i.e. arranging tutoring of exchange students twice a year and assisting international tutors throughout the year. A key part of the post is to provide information on internship opportunities and student exchange abroad, as well as to support those going on exchange. The international events organized by the Head of International Affairs are great opportunities to raise the international spirit and bring different cultures together. The duties also include working closely with the international team of Johto Ry to promote internationality also in an interdisciplinary manner.

VapaaBoomari is published five times a year and editor in chief coordinates the entire process from planning the theme to publishing. Together with the editor-team editor in chief plans the theme, contents, and execution of articles for the magazine. The role of editor in chief also includes a lot of communicating with other parties outside editor-division that are involved in the making of VapaaBoomari. When the magazine is finished editor in chief publishes the magazine online and takes care of mailing it forward. Editor in chief’s greatest task is to make sure that our members are provided with interesting and topical reading.

In the period 2023-2024 Vapaaboomars have five full members and eight alternate members in the 49-member representative board of the student union. The Vapaaboomari group leader, who is an official of Boomi, acts as a member of the student union’s administrative committee and is responsible for the activities of the representative group. The group leader represents the representative group at student union events, maintains active contact with other representative groups and coordinates the influence work of Vapaaboomarit in the student union.

The annual ball (fin. vuosijuhlat or vujut) officer, together with the annual celebration committee, is responsible for organizing Boomi’s annual celebration week. The annual celebration week consists of several events, culminating in a luxurious evening party and an annual sillis at the end of the week.
The most visible role of the annual ball officer is in coordinating the events and maintaining business relationships, together with the corporate relations manager of the annual ball. The annual ball committee is also assisted by the annual ball staff ie. vujustaff which is closely involved in the operations, especially during the annual celebration week.
The area of responsibility of the environmental officer is to guide the activities of our subject association in a direction that places less burden on the environment in accordance with the principles of sustainable development. In 2023, Aino Lehto will be responsible for the environment. The role of the equality officer is to take care of the realization of equality in the activities of the subject association. In 2023, Roosa Uusitalo will be responsible for equality. Hallopedi, i.e. the student representatives of the university administration, are counted as employees of Boomi. Amanda Nurminen and Elina Lehtinen represent business students in the Faculty Council in the 2023-2024 season.
