Officials

In Boomi, in addition to the board of the association, the activities are maintained and developed by various officials, who are selected as needed for a specific project or task. The job descriptions of a officials are often more practical than a board member’s and are limited to a specific area.

As an official, you get to influence Boomi’s operations in exactly the area that interests you. Officials are usually selected at the end of the year, and the search is announced on Boomi’s communication channels. So follow Boomi’s communications, and you’ll stay up to date on open positions.

    Mentoring official

    Job description

    Boomi’s mentoring officer is responsible for organizing our association’s annual mentoring project, where experts in the commercial field in working life spar with our students who are in the final stages of their studies on questions that concern them. The responsibility of the mentoring official includes recruiting mentors, marketing the project, organizing the search for actors, forming mentor pairs and organizing start, mid-term and end meetings as well as communication during the project.

    Travel Official

    Job description

    The Travel Official is responsible for Boomi’s trips abroad. The year of activity consists of two trips (for now): the legendary and traditional “Ruotsin Excu” (engl. Sweden Excursion) in November and the “Ulkomaan Excu” (engl. Abroad Excursion) which takes place in the following calendar year’s spring season. The Travel Official’s position consists of broad field of operational activities that Boomi has to offer which are, for example, event organizing and cooperation with various companies and groups. Over the year, the Travel Official gets to participate in negotiations with cooperation partners, organize interesting excursions, and reflect on the basic issues of organizing an event, from planning events to ticket sales and practical implementation. In this position only the sky is the limit (quite literally) as the Travel Official takes the members of Boomi to trips across Europe (and the world)!

    Head of International Affairs

    Job description

    Head of International Affairs is responsible for promoting internationality in Boomi. Perhaps the most visible duties are being responsible for international tutoring, i.e. arranging tutoring of exchange students twice a year and assisting international tutors throughout the year. A key part of the post is to provide information on internship opportunities and student exchange abroad, as well as to support those going on exchange. The international events organized by the Head of International Affairs are great opportunities to raise the international spirit and bring different cultures together. The duties also include working closely with the international team of Johto Ry to promote internationality also in an interdisciplinary manner.

    The head of Sports and Wellbeing

    Job description

    The Head of Sports and Wellbeing is in charge of the physical aspect of Boomi with the help of the sports division Boomsport. The role includes organizing various sport and wellbeing events, such as sport trials, weekly ball sport sessions as well as hikes in the fall and spring seasons. In addition, The Head of Sports and Wellbeing is responsible for contacting sports facilities and coordinating the activities of the division.

    Editor in Chief

    Job description

    Editor in Chief is responsible for editing VapaaBoomari which is a student organization magazine by Boomi ry. VapaaBoomari is published five times a year and editor in chief coordinates the entire process from planning the theme to publishing. Together with the editor-team editor in chief plans the theme, contents, and execution of articles for the magazine. The role of editor in chief also includes a lot of communicating with other parties outside editor-division that are involved in the making of VapaaBoomari. When the magazine is finished editor in chief publishes the magazine online and takes care of mailing it forward. Editor in chief’s greatest task is to make sure that our members are provided with interesting and topical reading.

    Job description

    The Vapaaboomarit Campaign Manager is responsible for the election campaign for the representative group for the 2024 TREY representative board elections. Tasks of the Vapaaboomarit Campaign Manager include organising candidate recruitment, advertising and administrative formalities for the representative board elections, such as informing about the activities and influence of the representative board and marketing of the elections and candidates. VB Campaign Manager is elected in the cycle of representative board elections, i.e. only every two years!

    Job description

    The Vapaaboomarit representative group represents Boomi and Boomi-minded students in the Tampere student union TREY representative board. In the period 2023-2024 Vapaaboomars have five full members and eight alternate members in the 49-member representative board of the student union. The Vapaaboomari group leader, who is an official of Boomi, acts as a member of the student union’s administrative committee and is responsible for the activities of the representative group. The group leader represents the representative group at student union events, maintains active contact with other representative groups and coordinates the influence work of Vapaaboomarit in the student union.

    Masters' Official

    Job description

    The task of the Masters’ Official is to ensure that Boomi also has events aimed at students in the master’s phase. In addition, the Masters’ Official organizes any other matters related to students in the Master’s phase, for example ordering a master’s ring. The Masters’ Official is assisted by the Masters’ events team that helps with the ideation and organization of events. In addition, the Masters’ Official works in cooperation with the Alumni Official.

    Project Officials are in charge of organizing KiskoFest event. It is the youngest of many events organized by Boomi ry. Project Officials have a big variety in their main tasks, including contract negotiations with restaurants and bars, gathering business cooperations, booking artists, ticket sale, communicating with stakeholders and making practical arrangements. Working under Project Officials there is a 7-headed team, which helps with organizing the event.

    Annual ball officer

    Job description

    Annual Ball Official

    The annual ball (fin. vuosijuhlat or vujut) officer, together with the annual celebration committee, is responsible for organizing Boomi’s annual celebration week. The annual celebration week consists of several events, culminating in a luxurious evening party and an annual sillis at the end of the week.

    The most visible role of the annual ball officer is in coordinating the events and maintaining business relationships, together with the corporate relations manager of the annual ball. The annual ball committee is also assisted by the annual ball staff ie. vujustaff which is closely involved in the operations, especially during the annual celebration week.

    Chair of strategy committee

    Job description

    The strategy committee and its chair have been elected for an exceptional period for 2024. By exceptional period, it is meant that the strategy committee will not define a new strategy for Boomi, but will be tasked with developing Boomi’s first investment strategy; the framework for Boomi’s future asset management. The second objective of the strategy committee is to review and evaluate Boomi’s organizational structure and propose changes to it if necessary. Depending on the interests of the committee, the strategy committee will be called upon to create either an investment strategy, evaluate the organizational structure, or both. The Chair of strategy committee will be responsible for leading both teams. The Chair of strategy committee will act as a link between the committee and Boomi’s Board, and will be responsible for ensuring that the investment strategy and organizational structure discussions are progressed and adequately documented.

    ICT development officer

    Job description

    In 2024, the ICT development officer will be on a par with the Boomi’ officials.. The main task of the ICT development officer will be to identify and solve longer-term ICT challenges on a project basis during 2024. The development officer will be responsible for finding solutions to current ICT problems, maintaining and developing Boomi’s and Boomi’s larger events’ websites, ensuring the functionality and maintenance of the office computers and identifying the division of tasks for outsourced services. In addition, the ICT development officer’s projects include the creation of the SporttiAppro website in 2024.  During the first term of office, the need for a ICT officer will be assessed for the longer term.

The area of responsibility of the environmental officer is to guide the activities of our subject association in a direction that places less burden on the environment in accordance with the principles of sustainable development. In 2024, Oona Ikävalko will be responsible for the environment. The role of the equality officer is to take care of the realization of equality in the activities of the subject association. In 2024, Essi Sarvilinna will be responsible for equality. Hallopedi, i.e. the student representatives of the university administration, are counted as employees of Boomi. Amanda Nurminen and Elina Lehtinen represent business students in the Faculty Council in the 2023-2024 season.
